DAY 01: HANOI ARRIVAL
Upon arrival at Noi Bai airport, you are met and transferred to hotel in Ha Noi. If time permits, we take a cyclo ride for a short excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. O/N in Ha Noi.
DAY 02: HA NOI CITY TOUR – LAO CAI (B)
A full day spent for visiting Hanoi – the politic, economic and cultural capital of Vietnam. Starting with Museum of Ethnology ( closed on Monday) which offers informative and well-documented display on the country’s54 ethnic groups, include elaborate and colorful hill-tribe costumes,. The display continues on to the garden outside with fascinating examples of minority housing from the Kinh to the ones of the ethnic groups in Central Highlands. Leave it behind, we come to visit the Temple of Literature- the combination of the Confucius Temple worshiping Confucius which was built in 1070 and the first Royal National university in Vietnam in 1076. Considered as “an escape” from the bustling city, this temple and its beautiful garden provides an opportunity to learn more about education in Vietnam since 1000 years ago until recent decades. In the afternoon, stroll around the alleys of Hanoi Old Quater, visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple or Jade Mountain Temple situated in the heart of Hanoi. The Water puppet show will bring us to an end of Hanoi city tour. In the evening,we transfer to Hanoi station to board a night train to Lao Cai. O/N on board
DAY 03: LAO CAI – SAPA – CAT CAT HILL TRIBAL VILLAGE (B)
On arrival in Sapa we have a chance after checking into hotel, to soak up the fresh climate as much as you want by spending the time to wander around and catch the first look. Today we visit the bustling Sa Pa Market where the Red Dao, Black Hmong, Tay and Xa Pho ethnic minorities converge from village to trade their goods and buy provisions. Enjoy short walking tour to Cat Cat village of Black Hmong ethic minority. O/N in Sa Pa.
DAY 04: SAPA HIKING – HANOI (B,L)
Heading out of town we follow the local tracks to Lao Chai village of Black H'Mong people. The footpath traverses some terraced rice fields,giving us a chance to see many mountaineers doing their daily works such as herding buffalo, growing salad, and tilling fields. Continue to Ta Van hamlet and visit the Giay ethnic minorities. They still retain their age old cultural traditions and wear distinctive costumes. By the late afternoon, we leave Sapato head Lao Cai to catch night train back Hanoi. O/N on board
DAY 05: HA NOI – MAI CHAU (B,L,D)
Arrive Hanoi station in early morning. We drive to hotel for taking a rest. After breakfast, depart from Hanoi to Mai Chau - a picturesque valley, home to many hill tribes including the Dzao, Muong and Thai. Arrive in Mai Chau around noon, check in Thai ethnic homestay in Van Village, a village of the ‘White Thai’, who predominantly inhabit this area. Lunch in the homestay with a typical Thai ethnic meal. In the afternoon, take a short walk around the village where you will be welcomed by friendly local people, communicate with them and explore their traditional lifestyle. Enjoy a traditional dancing show at night with taste of Ruou Can, the local rice wine. Overnight in the homestay.
DAY 06: MAI CHAU - VAN LONG LAGOON - HOA LU – NINH BINH (B,L)
After breakfast, drive to Ninh Binh via Nho Quan with its peaceful countryside settings. After lunch, taking buffalow cart or cycling through the village, stop to take some shots. Board a small rowing boat to explore the Van Long Nature Reserve which covers some 3,000 hectares of picturesque water landscape. You will enjoy two hours rowing through spectacular scenery made up of limestone mountains reflected in emerald water and lush rice fields. The forest is home to Delacour Langur - an endangered species with only 200 individuals remaining globally. Disembark and walk to visit two temples dedicated to King Dinh and Le in Hoa Lu- the ancient capital of Vietnam in 10th century. O/Nin Ninh Binh.
DAY 07: NINH BINH – HA LONG BAY (B,L,D)
After breakfast, depart to Ha Long bay via Thai Binh, Nam Dinh,passing peaceful countryside typical of Red River Delta with endless rice fields and winding river. Arrive at Ha Long Tourist Wharf around noon. Embark the elegant wooden junk. Lunch will be served as the boat cruises to visit numerous islands and lime-stone outcrops rising abruptly from the emerald water. It is also an ideal opportunity to enjoy the sea and refresh your soul in its splendid setting. Dinner with fresh seafood prepared by our experienced chef. A sweet night on board in your private cabin. O/N on board.
DAY 08: HA LONG – HA NOI – flight to HUE (B,L)
Enjoy the breakfast and savor an incredible the sunrise from the sundeck while boat is cruising to Luon Cave and Halong floating village then back to the harbour. On the way back to Hanoi, stop at Bac Ninh province for visiting Vietnam's first Buddhist centre, the But Thap Pagoda, which was built in 13th century and reconstructed in the 17th century. Then we drive to Noi Bai airport for the flight to Hue. Upon arrival at Phu Bai airport, you are met and transferred to hotel in Hue. O/N in the hotel in Hue.
DAY 09: HUE CITY TOUR (B)
Hue- the poetic city which used to be capital of Nguyen dynasty.After breakfast, we start our tour with visiting Hue Imperial City - the last vestiges of Vietnamese royal era, including : Flag Tower, Ngo Mon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons, Thai Hoa Palace & Forbidden Purple City(Tu Cam Thanh), Dong Ba Market and the famous Tu Hieu Pagoda. O/N in Hue
DAY 10: HUE – THIEN MU PAGODA – EMPEROR’S TOMBS (B,L)
Start a new day with a leisure boat trip along the poetic Perfume River, stop en route to visit Thien Mu pagoda (Heavenly Lady pagoda)- the symbol of Hue city. Cruise toward to upstream of perfume river to visit the tomb of Emperor Minh Mang and Khai Dinh. By the afternoon, we drive back to hotel in Hue. O/N in Hue.
DAY 11: HUE – DA NANG – HOI AN (B,L)
Morning drive on the Mandarin road – a scenic journey from Hue to Hoi An, which allows you to see a picturesque Vietnam with stunning beaches and lust tropical forest. Take some shots on route before visiting the Museum of Cham Sculpture - with many precious antique artifacts of the former Cham Kingdom on display. Transfer to Hoi An ancient town, once an important international trading port and now a charming riverside town. Hoi An features a fantastic combination of Chinese, Dutch, Japanese and Portuguese culture. You can see it by your own eyes when visiting Japanese Pagoda Bridge, Chinese street, Phung Hung old house, Hoi An market & ancient port, Phuc Thanh pagoda – the oldest pagoda of Hoi An (1454) built with Chinese bronze. Moreover, on the 1st or 15th of every Lunar month, Hoi An ancient town will be lighted up with colourful lanterns, making it sparkling than ever. DAY 12: HOI AN – MY SON – HOI AN BIKING (B)
We begin the day with an excursion to My Son, Vietnam’s most evocative Cham site recently named by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. The Cham people considered this area, in the shadow of Cat’s Tooth Peak, the domain of the Gods, and it served as the religious and intellectual center of the culture. In the afternoon we drive back Hoian town to take a short riding on bicycle to exploring the rural countryside of Hoian. The biking will finish at Cua Dai beach, free time at your leisure. O/N in Hoi An.
DAY 13: HOI AN – DA NANG - flight to SAI GON (B)
Free time in the morning to enjoy shopping in Hoi An, the tailored clothing mecca of Vietnam, until we transfer to the Danang airport for your flight to Sai Gon. On arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport, you are met and transferred to the city centre to visit Notre Dame Cathedral (built in 1877) and the Central Post Office, built by the French. Tour end by visiting Ben Thanh Market – the busiest business centre in Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight at the hotel in Saigon.
DAY 14: SAI GON - CU CHI TUNNEL - TAY NINH (B,L)
Today we have an excursion to Cu Chi Tunnels to visit an exposition hall and a widened section of the tunnels to get a feel of the underground life. Upon leaving Cu Chi we drive a short distance to Tay Ninh, the headquarters of Cao Dai Sect . We arrive in time to see the ornate temple of Cao Dai and attend the fantastic mid-day service when the followers fill the hall wearing colored robes. These costumes are a symbol of the curious combination of the Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. O/N in Saigon.
DAY 15: SAI GON – BEN TRE – CAN THO (B,L)
Leave the bustling city of Saigon behind, we depart to the Mekong delta considered as Vietnam’s biggest “rice basket” Arrive at Hung Vuong pier( Ben Tre town), embark and cruise along the Bến Tre River – a tributary of the great Mekong River to explore the local lifestyles and their daily activities. Stop at a brick –field belonged to Mr. Tu Lo to see how Vietnamese people made brick by hand and a coconut candy home factory located along the canal to witness the process of making the candies and other souvenirs. We then have an opportunity to taste bee honey tea at a local honey farm and variety of tropical fruit that are widely available in Mekong Delta orchards. Walking or cycling through the coconut groves and green rice fields to soak and relax in the tranquil countryside atmosphere.
The afternoon begins by a boat trip (with small rowing- boat)through a maze of waterways shaded by two rows of palm tree. Cruise back to the pier and disembark. Transfer to Can Tho.O/N in Can Tho.
DAY 16: CAN THO – SAI GON (B,L)
Early morning (from 5am), take a boat trip through the winding waterways of Cai Rang floating market- the biggest and busiest floating market in Mekong Delta. This is the best time to visit the market as it is crowded with hundreds of sampans that offer fruits, vegetables, plants, food and other goods for trade. You will earn a great opportunity to take photos, communicate with locals and taste fruits. Leave the market, we get back to Sai Gon. On the way back, stop at Binh Thuy old house( 5kms from Can Tho city) and Long Dinh mat weaving village where you can see how to make a mat - a very popular item closely associated with Vietnamese culture. Back to Sai Gon for overnight. O/N in Saigon
DAY 17: SAI GON – MUI NE (B)
Morning transfer to Mui Ne - a getaway paradise with pristine beaches, vast sand dunes, postcard-perfect fishing villages, vibrant nightlife and friendly people. Overnight in the hotel in Mui Ne
DAY 18: MUI NE – LEISURE ON BEACH (B)
Full day at leisure on the white sand beach. Overnight in the hotel in Mui Ne.
DAY 19: MUI NE – SAI GON (B)
Free time to unwind until transfer to Sai Gon. Overnight in the hotel in Mui Ne.
DAY 20: SAI GON - DEPARTURE (B)
There is free time for you to relax or further explore Ho Chi Minh city. The trip ends after your transfer to Tan San Nhat Airport for departure.The hotel room is available until noon only.
